Pending Home Sales Index
According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), pending home sales in August continued on the fourth month of an upward trend. NAR uses a forward looking indicator of home sales called the Pending Home Sales Index (PHSI), which rose to a record high in August.

A news release from NAR quotes their chief economist, Lawrence Yun, in noting that low mortgage rates are a factor in driving the upward trending number of people making offers on homes.
Yun also states, ‘Home prices are heating up fast.’
